Put your human kindness in a vast and inspiring context. This series is intended for the intellectually curious but there is no need to be a scholar of any kind - the topic is very approachable, applicable and encouraging! There will be a lot of humor involved and, of course, cookies!

Are you interested in being kinder to your fellow human? Are you curious about spiritual practices such as meditation, but suspect it is more new age nonsense? Are you disappointed by the existing religious institutions with their dogmatic and rigid belief systems? Do you intuit that something bigger and more beautiful is going on?

Learning about Evolutionary Spirituality is psychoactive, and ought to trigger insights and clarity in you not seen before. Once seen, you cannot unsee them! We will have some short practices to help illustrate the reality of this new perspective.

We can honor what came before, with all its beauty and significance, AND we can welcome in the insights of 300 years of scientific exploration and the philosophical shifts that came along. In doing so, a new evolutionary map emerges, a map that orients us in this baffling world we live in and offers compassionate context for our struggles as individuals and as a species.

Join Seamus Kennedy for this relaxed but inspiring 6-week discussion series. In a simple Living Room style (with tea and snacks), explore the historical map of the Universe and human development (from Big Bang to Right Now), the evolution of consciousness, and the significance of spiritual practice. There will be perhaps 45 minutes of presentation, and then time to discuss with tea and snacks. Discover several basic integral perspectives that help us to optimistically orient ourselves in this [not so] strange new world of political and religious division, vast income inequality and general confusion.

This 6-week event is part of a larger fundraiser, and a sliding scale of $1 to $10 per meeting is suggested; all donations are welcome, and will be used to help build a new external staircase and mudroom for the Living Room at Live Well Upstate.

Seamus will be drawing from the work of several big thinkers and teachers, especially evolutionary philosopher Steve McIntosh, as well as Ken Wilber, Francis Bennett and Pema Chödrön, while encouraging all of us to lend some of our own personal and original thinking to the mix.
